This poem is about my grandfather, who I loved dearly. He passed away the summer when I was a rising 4th grader.
Papa was very special to me
He was funny… Like a comedy
He liked to fish all the time
He never needed a reason or rhyme.
Our teeth were kept clean as can be
For Papa was a dentist as you can see
Also a captain, great as could be
If you could take a ride, you’d see.
Every summer was spent with him
Playing in the lake… Taking a swim
We also hiked; water skied, and jumped high
When we were scared, he told us just to try.
That time has passed, just like him
We believed that he’ll be there within
We were sad he passed away
He’ll be there in our hearts, he’ll never go away.
